Ross Carl Madsen was born in Fresno on August 17, 1937 to Harry and Evelyn Madsen at the old Saint Agnes Hospital, and passed away at his home on October 11, 2018, after declining health. He was 81. He graduated from Roosevelt High School, enlisted in the Army and served his country in Korea during the occupation from 1956 to 1958.
He worked as a mechanic for White Auto Car and later for Fresno Truck Center in management until his retirement. He was a self-made man and always had a way of fixing things himself. He was a generous man, helping people who needed help no matter whether it was money or fixing things for them. He’ll be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
He married the love of his life, Kristy (Metzler) Madsen on November 18, 1960. They were married for 57 years. They traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Illinois, and Oregon as well as many trips to Phoenix and the central coast after retirement. Particularly enjoyable for them was cruising with family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kristy, daughters Susan Critzer and her husband Marvin of Phoenix AZ, Sandi Brown and her husband Clarence of Clovis, a son, Steven Madsen of Salinas Valley, his brother Neal Madsen of Ventura, grandchildren Sean Critzer and Ryan Critzer, brother and sister in law, Roy and Sylvia Metzler, nephew Roy Metzler III and wife Dina, and niece Lynda Hodge and her husband Jimmy.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Harry and Evelyn Madsen, and nephew Rodney Metzler.
There will be no services per his request and Tinkler Funeral Chapel is handling the cremation.
