Ronald Joel Brase, 81, of Fresno passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024. Ron was born March 18, 1943, in Fresno, California, to his parents Henry and Mary Ann Brase. Ron started dating the love of his life, Susan Walker, at Fresno State University and they married in 1967 in Schenectady, New York. Sue and Ron were married more than 49 years and have two children, Catherine Gardner of Cave Creek, Arizona, and Gary Brase of Manhattan, Kansas.
Ron was always up for new challenges, first following his love of technology to become a supervisor of information systems for General Electric Co. in Schenectady, New York. His background in farming and Fresno, though, led him back to California. He and Sue took over running their small family farm and he began learning agricultural consulting.
Ron eventually started his own ag consulting business that emphasized technology and data-based solutions. He was honored by the California Chapter of the American Society of Agronomy in 2017 for his technological innovations (often pilot tested on his own vineyard), informational articles, and generous mentorship. In 2019, Ron was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement award by the San Joaquin Valley Winegrowers Association for positively contributing to the health and well-being of the San Joaquin Valley wine and grape industry.
Ron and Sue were avid and adventurous travelers, who visited nearly every continent on the globe. They also enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing bridge, and hosting friends at their annual Fourth of July party. By their example they encouraged their children to be world travelers, be successful in their chosen careers, be role models for others, and enjoy life.
Ron attended Jackson Elementary, Roosevelt High School, and graduated from California State University Fresno with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Ron is survived by his children Catherine and Gary, son-in-law Paul Gardner, daughter-in-law Sandra Brase, and grandchildren Zachary Gardner, Alexander Brase, and Emma Brase. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Susan.
