Robert Eugene Shutt Jr. was born on February 8, 1941, in Molus, Kentucky, to Robert and Evelyn Shutt. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He proudly served in the Army for two years. He trained at Fort Campbell and then was sent overseas to Europe for his service. After touring Ireland he would always say, “Ireland was so green, it hurts your eyes.”
By trade he was a welder and worked for Cerritos College for over 25 years. Bob also volunteered for several church activities and Citizens on Patrol, or C.O.P.’s, where he patrolled communities acting as the “Eyes and Ears” for law enforcement. He did these volunteer activities proudly with his wife, Diane, lovingly by his side.
Bob thoroughly enjoyed square dancing with his wife, golfing “with the guys” and making fond memories with his family. One thing we treasured most were the camping trips across America while listening to the Eagles, where we explored the country and spent time learning and laughing. Once he started laughing there was no stopping him, and we all joined in not always knowing what we were laughing about. Bob lived a wonderful, full life. We will all cherish these memories as we keep his love for us alive in our hearts.
On December 16, 2020, surrounded by his loved ones, Bob went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer. We are at peace knowing that he is out of his pain and is in the loving arms of Christ.
Bob was preceded in death by his brother; Ernie Shutt.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 56 years, Diane Shutt; daughter Meladee Ryba; son Philip Shutt; daughter Evelyn Sibley (Timothy Sibley); daughter Bobbi Jean Sierra (Chuck Sierra); and sister Vergie Underwood (Craig Underwood). He also leaves behind his grandchildren; Kriisten, Nicholas, Tabitha, Tyler, Zach, Kody, Torey, Kassidy, and Lindsay, and two great-grandchildren; Anistyn and Everett.
Bob was above all a Christian, a family man, and a proud American.
Until we meet again we will always carry your memory in our hearts.
