Robert was born in Fresno on February 22, 1920, and passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. He was the first Asian student body president at Edison High School and graduated in 1938. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945. After returning home, he married Ruth Lew.
Bob had a successful career working as an agent for New York Life Insurance Company for 54 years. He was president of the West Fresno Rotary Club and of Fay Wah Club. He was a member of the First Chinese Baptist Church and Belmont Country Club.
He was preceded in death on May 14, 2011 after 65 years of marriage by his wife, Ruth Lew.
He is survived by his daughters, Robyn Lee and her husband Lester, of San Mateo, and Lynn Manolakis and her husband Mike, of New London, Ct.; his son, Randall Haw and his wife Kathryn. He was blessed with six grandchildren, Kristin Macinnes and her husband Scott, of San Diego, Amye Hollandworth and her husband Mark, of San Bruno, Robert "Robby" Haw and his wife Karrah, of Fresno, Matthew Lee and his wife Sara, of Los Altos, and Corinne and Melissa Haw, of Fresno; eight great-grandchildren Katelynn, Samantha, and Ashley Hollandworth, Landon Haw, Alexis and William Macinnes, Christian Ross, and Parker Lee. His sisters, Bernice Quan, Vivian Nomura, Virginia Kamimoto of Fresno, and Ben and Philip Haw.
Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Sunday, October 14, 2012, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held at the First Chinese Baptist Church, 6080 N. Angus St., Fresno, Ca. 93710 on Monday, October 15, 2012, at 3:00 p.m.
