Robert E. Atkinson bid his final farewell on May 20, 2023, passing away peacefully in the loving embrace of his family. His life was rich and fulfilling, encompassing the roles of a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and cherished friend.
Robert’s passions extended beyond his family. He was an avid golfer, a devout Dallas Cowboys fan, and relished the warm moments spent with his loved ones. He proudly served in the US Army, bringing the same dedication to his service as he did to his business. Robert’s unwavering commitment and hard-working nature will forever remain an inspiration to those who knew him.
In 1957, he married the love of his life, Elisabeth, in Germany. The newlyweds soon made their home in Fresno, welcoming four beautiful children into the world. Together, they built a loving family and filled with cherished memories and laughter over an incredible 68- years. Robert’s enduring belief in sanctity of family will echo through his children and grandchildren.
Robert leaves behind legacy of love and resilience: his son, Robert Atkinson Jr. and his wife, Helen; his daughter, Karen Wood; his son, Michael Atkinson and his wife, Valerie. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Paige, Hunter, Tara, Tacie, Kolton, and Kyle; and his great- granddaughters, Mia, Evie, and Dolly; along with his brother, Ernie Atkinson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is joining his youngest son, Kenneth Atkinson, his parents, and six of his siblings in eternal rest.
Family and friends are warmly invited to honor Robert’s life at a graveside service June 2nd at 1:30pm at Belmont Memorial Park Cemetery, 201 N. Teilman, Fresno, CA 93706.
