Richard Carmona Solis was born on February 7, 1935, in Martindale Texas to Manuela Carmona Solis and Jose Solis. In early childhood, his family moved to Firebaugh, California where they lived for ten years until they moved to Kerman. Richard played basketball for Kerman High School and attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. He worked on dairies moving alfalfa until he started his life with Rita Salazar Solis. On November 29, 1958, they were married at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and began their family in Fresno. He earned his certificate in nutrition and served as a chef at Fresno Community Hospital for 30 years. In his retirement, he enjoyed his time with his family and watched his favorite sports teams. On February 14, 2024, he passed away peacefully in his home in Easton, California surrounded by his loving family.
Richard’s life will forever be cherished by his wife, Rita Salazar Solis, his daughters and sons-in-law: Diane and Marcelino Zuniga, Rachel and Leonard Romero, Nellie Solis, and Judy and Andy Solis-Murrietta; his eight grandchildren: Marcelino Zuniga III, Anna-Marie Tavarez, Veronica Gonzales, Victoria Villanueba-Greene, Leonard Romero, Edward Villanueba Jr., Andrea Romero, and Matthew Zuniga; 12 great-grandchildren: Marissa Tavarez, Isaiah Tavarez, Yazmeen Gonzales, Rozlynn Contreras, Isaac Tavarez, Arahbella Greene, Ava Gonzalez, Everly Gonzalez, Daniel Greene, Tahlia Villanueba, Eliza Zuniga, and Reymond Villanueba; and great-great-granddaughter Milani Tavarez.

A visitation for Richard will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720 followed by a Catholic Chapel Service.
A Committal Graveside Service will take place immediately after the Catholic Chapel Service at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, 264 N Blythe Ave, Fresno, CA 93706.
