Richard was the oldest of eight children. He had two younger sisters, Carrie and Angie and five younger brothers, Ray, George, Danny, Steve and Chris.
As a youngster Richard enjoyed playing baseball, then as an adult he enjoyed following the Los Angeles Dodgers in baseball and the Pittsburgh Steelers in football. Professionally, Richard was a laborer for an almond ranch for Tenneco West and Dole for twenty years, retiring in 1998.
Richard loved visiting his family in Phoenix and was able to visit Las Vegas with the band he used to help. He was also a member of Butler Pentecostal Church of God for twenty years. He always enjoyed spending time with his family and staying active in the church.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Carmen, two nephews, Joseph Flores and Marcus Garcia and niece Vicky Hernandez.
He is survived by his father, Richard Garcia, Sr., all of his siblings as well as many nieces and nephews and Godson Michael and Goddaughter Antoinette.
Richard’s visitation took place on Thursday, March 28, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. followed by a wake at 7:00 p.m. at Tinkler Funeral Chapel & Crematory.
Richard’s inurnment will take place at Washington Colony Cemetery at a later date.
