Three days ago, our family sadly lost Rene Acosta. The night before, Rene enjoyed co-ed softball with his wife and cousins. He did not wake up Tuesday morning. A stroke or heart attack is suspected.
Rene leaves behind a beautiful wife, Christina, and 5 precious children: Rene Jr (19), Ryan (16), Lizzy (11), Benny (8), and Sammy (6). He has a soon-to-be-born grandson, Julian Rene.
Rene also leaves behind his mother and father, Jose and Lydia Acosta, his brother, Jose Acosta Jr., his sister, Gabriela Alvarez, and her husband, Rudy Alvarez, and his sister, Alejandra Acosta. Rene's beloved sister, Sandra, passed away before him in 2016. Rene was a vital part of Christina's family who are also heartbroken. He will be deeply missed by Daniel Ramirez, Juliana and Bryan Murray, Ryan Levine, Shandell Levine, Toni Gillingwater and Jake Preo, Angela Levine, and Johnny Levine.
A devoted father, loving husband, faithful son, uncle, brother, and friend - Rene's passing has created an indescribable void amongst his family, friends, and all who knew him. He was hard working, funny, generous with his talents and time, and brightened up every room with his dimpled smile, contagious laugh, kindness, and friendship. He was an avid @sanfranciscogiants and @oaklandraiders fan - a passion he handed down to all of his children. He loved every moment he could spend with his family whether fishing, watching/playing sports, going on beach trips, having family gatherings, enjoying father/daughter dances, or enjoying quiet time with Christina.
The family is endlessly grateful for everyone who has extended love and support through this shocking and life-changing tragedy.
