Raymundo “Ray” Gonzales, 82, originally of the great state of Texas, passed away July 16th 2023, in his sleep after a battle with Esophageal Cancer. He was born in San Benito, Texas to Juan Valdez Gonzales and Florinda Martinez on March 15, 1941.
Ray leaves behind his wife Benita Gonzales, his son Raymundo M. Gonzales Jr or “J.R.” as he liked to call him, daughter-in-law Anna T. Gonzales, sister and brother-in-law Palmira & Albert Cavazos. Not to mention the siblings he leaves behind in Texas, including 10 Sisters and three brothers, all of whom he loved so much. He also leaves behind his grand-children, Ray Daniel & Cassandra Gonzales, as well as Beau & Austen English. He is preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia G. English, his sisters Rose Verduzco & Anita Castillo, and his brothers John, Hector, & Eddie Gonzales.
After moving from Texas to California Ray started his family and his Construction Contracting business. A skill and trade he learned from his Father, which he later passed on to his son J.R. Ray took great pride in his work, in his family, in his home, and in his friends. Ray’s legacy will always be remembered by his sense of humor, and love for fishing & the outdoorsman that he was known to be.
