Quai Yung “Becky” Wong, lived a healthy and prosperous life of 88 years. She was born on September 28, 1931, in Pei Wan village, Kwangtung Province, China, and passed away on March 11, 2020. Her personal achievement was living the American dream. After marrying Kwok Sheng “Ng” Wong on December 4, 1950, they parted in order to seek a better life—he moved to America while she traveled between Hong Kong and China to find work while raising their first child, Glenn. Eleven years later, Becky and Glenn reunited with Ng in San Francisco. They settled in Kerman, CA, and operated Kerman Chop Suey restaurant, serving both Chinese and American cuisine. Becky managed a household of seven, learned some English, gained American citizenship, and at the age of 50, obtained her driver license. Becky and Ng were very active in the Fresno Chinese community where he served as president of the Wong Association and Chinese Benevolent Association. After becoming a widow on March 15, 1994, Becky moved to Fresno and continued to learn new skills. She took Tai Chi, line dancing, and aerobic classes. Her pastimes were watching her favorite game shows on TV, visiting local casinos, and eating buffet with her family. She will be remembered for her energetic active lifestyle, savory dishes she prepared, and adoring her grandchildren. Becky is survived by five children and their families: son Glenn Wong & Irene Yu of Fresno; daughter Irene & Rangson Umpaiboon and their children (Matthew, Ryan & William) of Castaic, CA; daughter Ellen Wong and her children (Brandon, Harrison, Bohdan & Mei-Ling) of Fullerton, CA; son Daniel Wong of Fresno; and daughter Annette & Mike Thornton and their children (Todd, Michael & Marcus) of Fresno.
