Phillip age 79, of Fresno, lost his battle with cancer on Friday, July 11, 2014. His family was at his side. Phillip was born and raised in Fresno in 1935, and was the son of Jesus and Juana Colmenero. He was from a family of ten. He had four brothers, Jesse, Frank, Louie and Felix; and three sisters, Stella, Annie and Remijia. Phillip was the youngest and the last to be reunited with his family. Phillip graduated from Roosevelt High School, continuing on to Fresno City College and then to California State University, Fresno. Phillip also served his country in the United States Army.
After returning to civilian life, he became a Restaurateur and a Small Business Owner, opening Wimpy's Drive-In near Fresno City College. Simultaneously, Phil worked at Juvenile Hall, working his way up to Senior Probation Officer for the City of Fresno, before retiring in 1996. In his later years, Phil enjoyed gardening, dancing and traveling. Phillip known to many as Uncle Mickey, was a kind hearted man of few words and with many friends. He was a humanitarian, helping many different people throughout his life but his family was always his number one priority.
He is survived by his wife Frances; daughter Stephanie; son, Phillip Jr.; grandson Collin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

Visitation will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 4:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Monday, July 21, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Saint Peter's Cemetery.
