The family and friends of Pauline Marie Diaz, affectionately known as “Polly,” will be celebrating the life of their beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Mrs. Diaz passed away on September 14, 2019
She was one of six daughters of the late Enrique and Pascula Velasquez. She grew up in Sanger and, shortly after graduating from Sanger High School, began working for the county of Fresno’s Department of Social Services, assisting those most in need in her community. She worked for the agency for more than 40 years, before retiring in 1999 as a department supervisor.
Her role for the county was one that suited her well, as she was known for seeing the best in people, always offering words of encouragement and celebrating the accomplishments of others, especially those in her family. She was always quick to greet friends and family with a sparkling smile and a warm embrace and could brighten a room with her cheery attitude and contagious laugh.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Angel B. Diaz; son Vincent; daughter Melissa; step-son Robert; step-daughter Dianna Starbuck; grandchildren Destiny Tapia and Scott Diaz, Dianne Andrade, Kelly Diaz and Alexis Diaz, and Vanessa Diaz; great-grandchildren Stryder Ospring and Ariana Tapia and Joaquin Diaz; sisters Terry Garibay and Trina Federico, Jennie Ceballos, Ruth Romero and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Connie Sebera.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, 2838 N. West Ave., Fresno, followed by a Recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church.
