She was born on September 18, 1932 in Santa Barbara, Ca. to John and Virginia Car- ter. The family moved to Fresno where she attended local schools and graduated from Fresno State University with a degree in education. She also studied music which became a life long passion.
Patricia began her career teaching kindergarten, where she had a unique gift relating to young children. She played the piano for her students and family throughout her life. She later earned her credential in Special Education at Fresno Pacific University and taught middle school until she retired in 1992.
Patricia was a very compassionate person. She was always giving to others, including teaching catechism, volunteering at several parishes, and spending quality time with her family and grandchildren. She was an animal lover, especially with the dogs that came into her life. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was devoted to her Catholic faith. Patricia loved socializing with friends, playing bridge and going to brunch. She will be greatly missed.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Jacqueline Fries.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Paley and her husband, John; grandchildren, John and Ian of Fresno; her cousin, Pauline Hurlbert of San Jose; her nieces, Mary O'Neal, Kim Fries, Marta Callaway; nephews Carter Fries and Greg Fries and all their families.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at the Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church on Tuesday, Septem- ber 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.
