Nadia was born in Kfarshima, Lebanon in 1926. At the age of 18, she married the love of her life, with whom she had the joy of raising a family of four boys, many grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.
Nadia spread her love through her family and friends. She was passionate about caring for her immediate family, extended family, and many who needed assistance. She was an exemplar in putting others before herself. She was a pillar in her local Christian community, as evidenced by her drive to collect pledges in support of her hometown Orthodox Saint George Church in Jdita, Lebanon.
After nearly a lifetime in Lebanon, she immigrated to the United States with her husband in 1981, and settled with her family in Clovis, CA. She regularly attended Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Fresno, CA, where she was recognized as the ”Mother of the Year” in 2016.
Nadia is survived by her four children: George and his wife Dina, and their children Nadia and Anita; Elia, and his wife Mireille, their children Ameen and his wife Christine, their daughter Sophia, and Victor; Michel, and his wife Mona, and their children Madonna and Giorgio, and Tony; and her brother Henry Wakim, and sister Eva Haddad. She is preceded in death by her husband Ameen Akel; her sisters Henriette Haddad, and Minerva Kassem.
