Michael John Runge, 63, died unexpectedly on June 8, 2019 after decades-long battle with chronic pain. Michael is survived by his wife, Misako Runge; his sisters, Michelle Combs and Christine Siroky; children Diane AhTye, Shota Runge, and Kae Runge; granddaughter Adalyn AhTye. He is predeceased by his father and mother, Edward and Mary Runge.
Michael was born in New Jersey on April 16, 1956 to Mary and Edward Runge. He graduated from Arizona State University in 1978 and graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1983. He served as a Medical Officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve in Okinawa, where he met his wife Misako. The family moved to Clovis, CA in 2001. He worked as physician for 31 years.
Michael was a beloved husband, Papa, grandfather, son, brother, friend, and neighbor. He lived an active lifestyle as an avid runner and enjoyed family activities, especially watching his children play sports and playing with his granddaughter Adalyn. He was very involved in his children’s lives and even made it a point to befriend the neighborhood children as his own.
There will be a graveside service for friends and neighbors on Thursday, June 27 at 10:00 a.m. at the Clovis Cemetery District.
