Michael R. Granat passed away at home after a long battle with a failing heart. He was born in South Bend, IN, a graduate of Valparaiso University and
received his MBA from California State University, Long Beach.
Mike had two passions in life, fishing and international trade. In his later career he was fortunate to be able to combine those two passions by creating an international fishing market for Shimano in Latin America. That position also allowed him the enjoyable opportunity to travel to several
countries in South America and the Caribbean.
After moving to Clovis, CA in 2003, he became an adjunct instructor of international business at California State University, Fresno.
He made a lasting impression on many of his students who kept in touch with him many years later.
Mike leaves his beloved wife Leslie; sister, Gail McBride and husband Mike; son, Michael A. Granat; daughter, Suzi Rodgers and husband Jim;
step-children, Stefanie Moshier and husband Tom, and Ryan Smith and wife Megan, and ten grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by his family, his many friends, fishing buddies, and his cat Squeaky.
A Memorial Service will be held at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home,
1525 E. Saginaw Way, Fresno, CA, on Friday, August 18, 2017, at 10:00a.m.
