Michael Lawrence Beil, age 50, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018, due to long standing cardiac problems. He was born in Fresno, CA, on April 29, 1967, son of Marvin and Eleanor Beil. He attended Dry Creek Elementary School, Kastner Intermediate Junior High School, and Clovis West High School.
Mike was a faithful 4-H member over the years, with both sheep and goat projects. In high school, he was active in drama and band. He graduated from University of Southern California four years later, with a degree in marketing and business, and was quite proud of serving as coxswain on the USC crew for four years.
Following his graduation from the University of Southern California, Michael spent ten years in Seattle, WA, with work geared toward computer graphics. He then returned to Fresno and obtained teaching credentials for high school English. Over the past 14 years, he has worked as an educator for Avenal's Reef-Sunset Unified School District.
Michael's hobbies included photography, bird watching, and reading Russian novels. He grew to like life in Avenal, and was Chair of the City Planning Commission for 12 years. He was the official photographer for many a school and city event, including the annual Avenal Sand Drag Competition.
Michael will be fondly remembered by his parents, Marvin and Eleanor Beil; his brothers, Matthew, Timothy, Andrew, Peter, and Stephen; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. We'll all miss you, Mike...
