Matthew John Miller

Born October 26th 1940, Matthew (John) lived in the small town of Lorain, Ohio. When as a young teenager he met the love his life, Lynne Schaeffer. On September 5th 1959, they were married. Matthew being an only child, dreamed of having a big family, and so they began. He found work at U.S. Steel where he learned to be a machinist. By December 1965 they had four children: Robert (Mark), Jonathan, Tammara, and Timothy. In May of 1972 he and Lynne moved their family west, to Fresno, CA. Matt soon found work at West Side Pump in San Joaquin. In 1975 Lynne and Matthew welcomed a 5th child, Heather. Tragedy struck the family in 1979 when Mark, their oldest son, died in an accident. In that tragedy, Mark’s best friend Michael Turnipseed became a member of the family. Matthew always thought of Michael as one of his sons. Matthew enjoyed family vacations, camping, fishing, houseboating, golfing, and country music. Matthew is survived by his wife, Lynne, whom he not only loved, but worshipped every single day of their 67 years together. He also leaves behind his 5 surviving children, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren, and his scotty dog Belle. He lived a full and loved life, surrounded by family, as he always dreamed.

A Graveside service for Matthew will be held Friday, September 2, 2022, 10:00 am at Belmont Memorial Park, 201 N Teilman Ave, Fresno, CA 93706.
