Mary was born 7/5/28. She was the daughter of Juan and Rosario Gonzales. She had one sister: Hortensia.
Mary spent most of her youth in the cities of Reedley and Fresno. She was a member of the inaugural class of 1946 from San Joaquin Memorial. Eventually, she met and married Floyd Owen Stroup in 1956. The next 38 years had the family living in different areas of the country including the states of Massachusetts, Minnesota, and Oklahoma. She eventually settled in the Fresno/Clovis area in 1994 after the death of her husband.
Perhaps she was best known for her legendary love of cats. Her list of pets include Smudge, Pepe, Tom Jones, Figaro, Paco, Barbara, the Thing (Thingy Thingy), Max, Minnie, Chelsea, Cleo, Clovis Raye, and Clovis Raye II.
She passed away peacefully that Wednesday morning.
Mary is survived by her children Kathleen, James, and Mike, grandson Clayton, and niece Mary Ann.
