Mary Arguijo, 76, a native and lifelong resident of Fresno raised in the Pinedale area, was a beautiful lady who provided a mother’s love all her life to her brothers and sisters, their families and so many others.
Born in the farmworker camps off Ashlan and Blythe in west central Fresno, Mary attended Fresno schools until the 8th grade, earning a GED in 1968. As the eldest of her nine siblings, she helped raise them as her parents worked. Mary worked for Simone Farms, Roberts Fig Company, David and Sons, Zody’s Department Store retail sales and as a waitress for The Oasis and Cary’s Place.
Mary never had children of her own but she was nonetheless the “family mom” as she babysat for many of her siblings’ grandchildren as well as for friends.
Mary is survived by siblings Bea and husband Alejandro Coronado, Pete “Butch” and Mary Arguijo; Andrea Arguijo and Tom Uribes; Mariano Arguijo; David Arguijo and Darrel Lott; Rossana and Dan Contreras(all of Fresno); many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends; and Aunts Lola Saldivar and Jenny Aguilar of Los Angeles.
She was welcomed Home by her parents, Pedro and Elenore “Noni” Arguijo; brothers Arthur and Jesus; Aunt Rosie Woodley; primo Jack Noriega; niece Tara Galvan; and uncles Frank Duarte, Gilbert Vasquez, Sal Saldivar and Beto Woodley.
The Arguijo family appreciates and thanks you for your prayers for our beloved sister, aunt, sister-in-law, cousin, niece and nina. Rest In Peace Sis … we will see you again!
