Lorraine’s life was fulfilling, and those of us who were blessed to be touched by her existence have an everlasting imprint on our hearts. She was born in Fresno, California, to Henry and Mollie (Hart) Horg on December 2, 1926. Lorraine grew up in Easton, helping her father work the grape vineyards on his twenty-acre ranch. She graduated from Washington Union High School in 1945, and a couple years later married her longtime friend and neighbor, Lawrence Lutz in 1947. Lawrence preceded her in death, in 2010. They were married 63 years.
Lorraine attended Zion Congregational, a Lutheran church, where she was a custodian and events coordinator for forty years. Some of her jobs throughout the years include, dry cleaner, childcare provider, receptionist, and kitchen cook at Twilight Haven. She was also a recreation leader for the afterschool program at Erickson Elementary.
She enjoyed camping at Central Camp with her family every summer. Fishing, going to Morro Bay, and playing softball in the Women’s Fast Pitch Softball League were some of her passions. She loved to draw and was quite the artist. She would never turn down an opportunity to go out to eat and visit with friends or family.
Lorraine was always volunteering for her community, and went out of her way to help anyone, making sure they were taken care of and fed. With her bold personality, she was always the jokester in the room. Her unique sense of humor and compassion made her a joy in life.
Not a day went by where Lorraine didn’t talk about how much her children and family meant to her. Her family was arguably her most important achievement in life.
She is survived by her children: Linda Hackett (Bob-D.1987) and Larry Lutz (B.J.); grandchildren: Mandy McLintock (Masun), Kevin Lutz (April Styers), and Heidi Beckham (Jason); great grandchildren: Ty Beckham (Sydney), Austynn Beckham, Tevin Lutz, Lyndia Styers, and Remy Styers; great great-grandchildren: Liam Beckham and Mathias Beckham.
A visitation for Lorraine will be held Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Stephens and Bean Funeral Chapel, 202 North Teilman, Fresno, CA 93706. A funeral service will occur Friday, April 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Stephens and Bean Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
