Lloyd R. Walker

He was born to C. Leonard and Marinda Walker on June 16, 1916, near Green Forest, Arkansas. Ross was the second son in the family of five boys and a girl. A Veteran, Ross served in the U.S. Army, stationed in the Aleutian Islands during World War II. He married Kathleen Butler in 1945, and had one son, Stephen.

The family moved from Arkansas to Fresno, California almost 58 years ago, developing many friendships over the years. He had several jobs over the years, working for the railroad, at an ice-making plant and for many years with the Fresno School District as a custodian at Holland School and Sunshine School, until his retirement in 1978. Ross continued to live in Fresno until Kathleen, his wife of 64 years, passed away on 2009. For the past two years, he lived with his son, Stephen and at the Evergreen Nursing Home in Bakersfield.

He was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen; parents, C. Leonard and Marinda Walker; brothers, Carl and Norman Walker; and sister, Winnie Thomason.

Ross is survived by his son Stephen and his wife and children. He is also survived by his brothers, Don and Jimmie and his wife Edith; grandchildren, Nicholas Walker and his wife Rebecca and their daughter Lauren and twin sons Jack and Chase, Michael Walker and his wife Michelle and their son Jonas and daughter Amelie, James Walker, and Megan (Walker) Gal- lagher and her husband David; step-grandchildren, Ana Duke and her husband James and their daughter Remy, Sean McCurry-Nieto and his wife Angi and their son Gavin, and Sabina McCurry-Nieto. Ross also had many loving nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Friday, January 14, 2011, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.

A Graveside Service will be held at Fresno Memorial Gardens on Saturday, January 15, 2011, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars, 406 W. 34th Street, Kansas City, Mo.; or your favorite charity.
