Lloyd Ray Johnson of Fresno, California passed peacefully on Thursday June 15, 2023, at the age of 93. He was born in the small town of Canadian, Texas during the Great Depression to James and Ruby Johnson. He would say that everybody celebrated his birthday, because it was New Year’s Eve! The family moved from Canadian, Texas to Amarillo, Texas where he graduated high school. He joined the Navy Reserves and began his career at Southwestern Bell.
Lloyd was called up from the Navy Reserves to serve aboard the USS Sanborn as an Electrician’s Mate during the Korean Conflict. After the Conflict, he started working for Pacific Bell in Beverly Hills, California, where he met Dolly. They got married and then moved to Fresno, California.
Lloyd and Dolly had two children: Richard and Lynn. Soon after his children were born, he started working for PG&E. He worked 31 years for them until his retirement. While working for PG&E and not wanting Dolly to work, he started working for Armored Transport on weekends. He worked 7 days a week for about 8 years only taking one day off a year to attend the PG&E picnic in Bass Lake.
In his spare time, he loved watching Westerns. He also enjoyed playing weekly card & board games with his closest friends!
Lloyd is leaving his wife of 66 years, Dolly, his children Richard and Lynn; his grandchildren Justin and Jeffery, and their wives Meaghan and Kara; his adopted grandchildren Chris and Matt; and his great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Landon and Owen.
He will be missed by many and welcomed into the gates of heaven by multitudes.
A graveside service will be held at Clovis Cemetery on July 7th, 2023, at 9:00 am
