On Sunday, November 30, 2014, Linda passed into the spiritual world to which she had always felt deeply connected. From an early age, Linda was fascinated with the possibilities of breaking the bonds of our physical world. Always intrigued by and open to the mysterious and unexplained, she enthusiastically wove stories about mystical and miraculous events like those related to Padre Pio and Our Lady of Fatima. Her strong beliefs and storytelling ability drew listeners a little closer to the spiritual realm with its hope of relief from life's sometimes harsh realities.
We will fondly remember Linda's love of talking with people, her enjoyment of all sorts of music, her beautiful singing voice, and her awesome dance skills. We will miss her strong, hearty laugh and her lifelong example of staying young at heart. Linda was in the nursing profession and thoroughly enjoyed sharing her many medical adventures. Whatever she was doing, she was always undeniably cool.
Linda was the first child of Simon and Petra Martinez and was the only one amongst her siblings who was born in Kansas.
May her spirit now enjoy boundless freedom and peace.
She is preceded in death by her father, Simon Martinez; her sister, Patty Martinez; her nephew, Robert Angelo Renteria; and her husband, Robert Hernandez.
She is cherished by her son, Gino Hernandez; her daughter, Lisa Fialho and her husband Chris; her grandchildren, Jessica Knowles, Amanda Fialho, and Mia Fialho; and her great-granddaughter, Chloe Wuensch. She is deeply missed by her mother, Petra Martinez; and her sisters and brother, Cindy Renteria, Debbie Estrada and her husband Tony, Terre Esquivel and her husband John, and Todd Martinez and his wife Cheryl. She lives on in the hearts of her nieces and nephews, Kimberly Renteria, Anthony Estrada and his wife Michelle, John Esquivel, Alex Esquivel, Matthew Martinez, and Michael Martinez.
