Lillian Genevieve Zamora

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lillian "Lilly" Genevieve Zamora, age 80, of Fresno, California. Lillian was born April 24, 1941 in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico and passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 in Fresno.

Devoted wife of 57 years to Rudy Zamora, mother to Eric Paul Zamora and Gina Alvarez, and grandmother to Lillian Zamora and Matthew and Miles Alvarez, Lilly spent a full life loving and caring for her family.

Lillian Muñoz was born in Torreón, Mexico, to Emilio Muñoz and Sarah Cervantes. In 1945, she came to the United States with her mother and siblings. When she was just 19 years old, and also a recent graduate of Roosevelt High School, she moved to San Francisco where she spent the next two years working, sightseeing, and collecting mementos from all of her new adventures

She is preceded in death by eldest brother Claudio Muñoz, eldest sister Josephine Castaneda, followed by brothers Emilio, Ruben Muñoz, and Alfonso Muñoz. She is survived by her dear sister Rachel Muñoz Valdez, as well as her husband, children, and grandchildren. Lilly’s sudden passing is an insurmountable loss for all those who knew and loved her.

A visitation for Lillian will be held Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E Nees Ave, Fresno, California. A recitation of the holy rosary will occur Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 7:00 PM, in the chapel at Whitehurst. A mass will take place Friday, March 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2140 N Cedar Ave, Fresno. A committal service will occur after mass Friday, March 4, 2022 at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, 264 N. Blythe Ave, in Fresno.

The family asks to consider a donation to American Kidney Fund or American Diabetes Association in Lilly's name.
