Leonard Raymond Garber of Clovis, California, passed away peacefully at age 94 on November 7, 2023. He was born on May 10, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois. He met the love of his life, Leona in 1950, and they were married July 4, 1952. In 1953, along came their only daughter Debbie and in 1957 they moved to Los Angeles, California. In 1981 they moved to Clovis, California to welcome the birth of their only grandchild Jennifer.
Leonard retired from the post office after over 50 years of service at age 80. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 38 years, at the highest and most prestigious ranking of the 4th degree. He was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church where he ushered and thoroughly enjoyed selling (and eating) donuts for church services. He looked forward to his breakfast with his buddies every Friday morning and he volunteered at many organizations over the years for as long as he possibly could. He loved watching his Cubbies and Bears, but most of all he loved his family.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents William and Lottie Grabczynski, his beloved wife of 60 years Leona Garber, his brother Stanley ‘Zip’ Grabczynski (Mary), his sister Loretta Ostrowski (Louie) and his sister Mary Muller (Bill).
Leonard is survived by, his Daughter Debbie Wendt (Wayne), his granddaughter Jennifer Kaledas (Joe), and his nieces and nephew, Sharon Mleczko, Susan Wilson, Shirley Ostrowski and Marc Muller and their children and grandchildren.
Leonard’s celebration of life will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on November 28, 2023 at 10:00am; 5770 N. Maroa Ave, Fresno, CA. 93704. Immediately followed by gravesite burial at Saint Peters Catholic Cemetery; 264 N Blythe Ave, Fresno, CA. 93706.
He was an amazing man, who lived his life simply, humbly, and purposefully. He will be missed by many.
