Kyle was born on August 23, 1982 in Santa Maria, California to Scott and Maureen (Stettmeier) Wilson. He was born a fighter, overcoming health obstacles throughout his early years that would help shape him into the man he would become: strong, never one to quit, one with a grateful heart, a strong faith in God, a love for life, family and friends that surpassed all.
Kyle played baseball from the time he was a little boy. He practiced regularly, focused and determined, he became a top player for Righetti High School in Santa Maria, CA. His success at Righetti HS earned him a baseball scholarship to Cal Polytechnic University San Luis Obispo after graduating from Righetti HS in 2000.
Kyle met his beloved wife, Chelsy Thompson, while in his sophomore year at Cal Poly in the spring of 2002. He was a standout baseball player there while Chelsy starred for the tennis team. They were a match made in heaven from the start. There was an instant connection between them and there was no turning back. Their love story would include the title “college sweethearts” and after Kyle played baseball for Cal Poly, he would go on to play baseball for Fresno State University and finally in the minor leagues for the Colorado Rockies after he was taken in the 2004 MLB draft. During his time in professional baseball Kyle made time in the offseason to complete and proudly earn his Degree in Economics from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. The minor leagues took him to Casper, Wyoming, Tucson, Arizona, Asheville, North Carolina and Modesto, California, and in true Kyle fashion, he met many friends along the way that he is still close with today. Chelsy was always by his side cheering him on.
After playing in the minor leagues for 3 years, Kyle and Chelsy decided to settle down in Clovis, California, get married and start a family. Kyle married Chelsy on November 10, 2007. Starting work for Arthur J. Gallagher; Kyle put in long hours as a newbie and climbed his way to the top, becoming one of the top producers in AJG’s office. He was a loyal employee, staying with AJG for the 11 years he was in the business. Loyal, trustworthy, hardworking, determined, a bright light in any room, Kyle would do whatever it took to provide above and beyond for his family while always making his family his number one priority. He strived daily to be the best husband and father to Kellen (age 7) and Finley (age 5), attending all of his kids’ activities, from dance class to tae kwon do, from soccer to basketball, to coaching little league baseball, to having them join him as avid supporters of Fresno State Athletics, all the while planning weekly date nights and trips away with his wife, the love of his life.
The love that Kyle and Chelsy share for each other and their children is unmatched, and was evident to every person they met, whether an acquaintance or a longtime friend. Their love never wavered, and their marriage was an example of commitment, love and devotion, centered on their love for God and family.
Kyle’s gift to this world was his presence. Simple as that. He was a friend to everyone, and the finest example of a man in every way. He will live on through his wife Chelsy, his children Kellen and Finley, his parents Scott and Maureen Wilson, his brother Blaine Wilson. His in laws: Curtis and Renee Thompson; Matt, Regan, Keegan and Josi Poston; Kyle, Colby, Elle and Nixon Jamierena. His aunts, uncles, and cousins: Barry, Janie, Bridget, Claire, and Cate McGowan; Michael, Lisa, and Hanna Mahoney; Robbie, Don, Mallory, Kirsten, and Brett; his grandfather Robert Wilson, and all of his friends that he has touched along the way.
