It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of our treasured Kirk Randall Stewart. Kirk was born in Fresno on New Year's Eve 1952 to Artie and Mildred Anne Stewart. Kirk attended Manchester Elementary, Fort Miller Junior High, Bullard High School and California State University, Fresno. It was during his years at Bullard High that he met the love of his life and life long partner, wife, Judy Stanton. They married in 1975. After high school, Kirk attended Fresno State where he joined Sigma Chi Fraternity. It was there he began friendships with so many that have enriched both his life and theirs. Kirk was an entrepreneur and began his career of running his own company with Stewarts Liquor and Deli. Kirk and his dad Artie created a successful, personable business that gave him the confidence to take chances on other businesses. After the store sold, Kirk moved into real estate, becoming a broker, enjoying many friendships with fellow Realtors. Then partnering with childhood friend Kevin Mulligan, they formed Image Homes. Kirk was always proud of the beautiful homes he built in the finest communities in Fresno. He built homes for over 600 families and Image Homes continues to be one of the premier builders today, with his talented brother Scott joining Kevin at the helm.
Kirk's passion was his family and his friends. Kirk's smile would light up the room and he endeavored to make life joyful while contributing to it. He enjoyed golf, bridge and traveling. Kirk and Judy traveled the world. Kirk had a passion for baseball that took him on two baseball park tours seeing most every park in the U.S.
Kirk was truly loved and admired by many. He never met a stranger and no matter where he was in the community, there was a familiar face. Kirk leaves behind many supportive friends, family and business acquaintances who will cherish his memory.
Kirk died as he lived, ever hopeful and with deliberate determination to have enthusiasm for life despite his illness. He will always be remembered for the twinkle in his eye and his zest for life.
Kirk loved and cherished his family, sister Sheryl and brother Scott and his wife Susan, their children Lauren and Kyle and many wonderful cousins, all of whom were his "favorite".
Kirk is survived by his loving wife Judy; and sons, Grant Kirk and Steven James, whom he loved more than anything.
Please join us for a Celebration of Kirk's Life at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 5770 N. Maroa on Friday, June 8, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
