Shortly after graduating from Washington Union High School, Kenji was interned at the Fresno Fairgrounds Assembly Center and was subsequently transferred to an internment camp in Jerome, Arkansas where he remained until the end of WWII.
Kenji kept himself busy farming raisins in the surrounding areas of Easton and Caruthers until his retirement. Apart from work, Kenji enjoyed attending Fresno State football and basketball games, gambling, clamming, fishing, traveling, and most importantly spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sueko; his son, Cary (Leslie) Fukuda; his daughters, Linda (Jeff) Takeda and Anne (Victor) Takeda; sister, Teruko Takahashi; brother, Mitsugi (Mae) Fukuda; and grandchildren, Garret, Derek (Sarah), and Braden Fukuda; Jason, Matthew, and Nicole Takeda; Brandon and Jennifer Takeda.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Seishiro and Chisa Fukuda and sister, Chiyoko Ide.

Viewing will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Friday, September 14, 2012 from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm.
A celebration of Kenji's life will be held at the Fresno Betsuin Family Dharma Center located at 2690 E. Alluvial in Clovis on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 2:00 pm.
