Karen Helene Horne was born on July 9, 1946 in Fresno, CA and passed away on June 24, 2021 in Fremont, CA at age 74. Karen graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1964 in Fresno, CA. Karen and her late husband Ken were married for 52 years. She was a devoted housewife. For over 20 years, she also worked at P&C Auto Recyclers, a job she started when her son, Mike, went to college. She was a loving wife, an amazing mom, a devoted friend, and an always willing grand-dog sitter. She eagerly looked forward to Mike and Robin going on a trip so that she could take care of their chocolate lab, Amber. She loved singing, reading, and sharing books with Robin. Lately, she had discovered and enjoyed audio books.
Karen dedicated herself to her family, and was the most selfless person you could meet. She always put others first, often volunteering where there was a need. After Ken passed away, Karen spent time volunteering with Life Elder Care to reach out to others that were living alone. She developed some great friendships during that time.
Karen is preceded in death by her husband Ken Horne, infant son Steven Horne, and parents Bill and Bertha Schaffer.
She is survived by her son Mike Horne and his wife Robin Horne of Hollister, CA; brother Ken Schaffer of CA; brother-in-law Raymon Gentry of Florida; sister-in-law Faith Moranville of Iowa, along with 6 nieces and nephews including Jacquie Hinds and her husband Brad Hinds of Arroyo Grande, CA, Brenda Esparza and her husband Anthony Esparza of Georgia, Jeremy Gentry of Florida and Monique Reese of Pennsylvania.
