A visitation for Julien will be held Monday, December 19, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720. A mass of christian burial will occur Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Paul Catholic Newman Center, 1572 E. Barstow Ave., Fresno, CA 93710.
Julien Clementine Louie, “Clem” passed away peacefully December 4, 2022 in her home in Fresno, California after a short illness. She is remembered by friends and family around the world. Clem was born and raised in Hong Kong. Clem was a teacher for more than 10 years before marrying Benjamin Louie, and moving to Fresno, CA. In Fresno, Clem was a committed volunteer at Our Lady of Victory Church, teaching Catechism for decades. Clem also volunteered at St. Genevieve’s Chinese Catholic Church, serving on the Church Council, translating scripture from English to Chinese, and teaching Catechism. Clem was also committed to music ministry, singing in many church choirs. In addition to volunteering at church, Clem was a long-time spiritual volunteer at St. Agnes hospital where she volunteered until she was 85. Clem’s life was a life of service to others. Clem retired after 20+ years working for Fresno Unified School District as an instructional aid. She worked at Slater Elementary, Wolters Elementary, and Hoover High School. In her spare time, Clem was a prolific crafter, and crocheted hundreds of baby blankets that she gave to St. Agnes to give to new babies, and she also loved her garden. Clem was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Benjamin Louie. She is survived by her two daughters, Angie Rosenthal and Dorothy Theodore, three grandchildren: Vanessa Rosenthal, and Benjamin and Daphne Theodore, her brother Alfred Gomeze of Hong Kong, her sister, Sister Mary Peter Gomeze of Hong Kong, and numerous cousins around the world.
