Josephine E. Lopez was born in Jerome, Arizona on September 3, 1928. She was the eldest of 12 children. Four of her surviving siblings are Matilda Rangel, Jim Escobedo, Dorothy English and Maria Pilar Cardenas.
Josephine met, fell in love with, and married Antonio “Tony” Lopez. Together they had five children; Lourdes “Lou” Dawson, Anthony Lopez, Jenny Aguirre, Patricia “Pat” Jaurique and Michael Lopez. She is survived by her five children and their spouses, David Dawson, Alfred Aguirre and John Jaurique. Josephine is also survived by nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Josephine was a member of the Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church and served as a school crossing guard for St. Therese School for many years. She also served as a parent volunteer for the San Joaquin High School Pep Band for four years.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 8,2018 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Josephine will be laid to rest at Fresno Memorial Gardens beside her beloved husband.
