Mr. Joseph B Silveira

Dad was born in Gustine, Ca. on February 23, 1914. At the age of one his family moved back to the Azores where they resided until the end of World War I. His parents and two sisters Isabelle and Mary came back to the USA thru Ellis Island the fall of 1919. They resided in Holt, Ca. for three years and then moved to the Island District in Riverdale, Ca. In 1939, the family moved to Fresno when he purchased the ranch where he spent the rest of his life.

In 1941, Dad met the love of his life Pauline Morganti. The loss of his father in 1942 postponed marriage as Dad became the bread winner for his mother and four sisters. After waiting a year he married Pauline on November 3, 1943.

Dad loved his family and friends, was a wonderful father, grandfather and great- grandfather. He adored his wife and was particularly protective of her as he was with the rest of the family. Dad was preceded in death by his father mother, Manuel and Rita Silveira; sisters, Mary Rocha, Josephine Mattos, and Isabelle Mattos.

Dad is survived by his wife Pauline; sister, Hilda Mattos; four sons, Gene Silveira and his wife Frances, grandson Tim and his wife Mary, great-grandson Zachery, granddaughter Jennifer Huntress and her husband Rick, great-grandson Sammy and great-granddaughter Abby; son, Norman and his wife Sue, granddaughter, Lisa Freeburg and her husband Paul, great-granddaughters Paige and Faith, grandson Jeff, and his wife Jennifer, great-granddaughters Ava and Ashlee; son, Allen Silveira and his wife Kathrine, grandson Brian, granddaughter Michelle, their mother Jenny Silveira, great-grandson Anthony; son, Glenn and his wife Linda and granddaughters Katie and Kari.

Visitation will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Easton on Monday, April 5, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Easton, on Monday, April 5, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
