Fr. Joseph Hoan Cong Nguyen

Rev. Nguyen studied Philosophy and Theology at Saigon Senior Seminary and was ordained to the Priesthood on April 29, 1973.

In 1980, Fr. Joseph, originated the start of the Fresno and Bakersfield Vietnamese Catholic Communities and was appointed Associate Pastor of St. Helen's Catholic Church, Fresno, CA. He also served as Associate Pastor of St. John's Cathedral, and Administrator of Our Lady of La Vang Catholic Church, retiring in 2013.

We give thanks and praise God for Father Joseph's tireless and dedicated efforts to the Diocese of Fresno for more than 30 years. May his beloved soul rest in peace.

Visitation will be held at Our Lady of La Vang Catholic Church on Friday, January 30, 2015, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John's Cathedral on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
