Jose was born on September 25, 1923 in Penjamillo de Degollado, Michoacán to Jesus Gutierrez and Carmen Servin Gutierrez. He was the oldest out of four children. He had two brothers, Ramon and Francisco, and Elena, his sister.
He met Raquel and married her in July of 1950. They soon had Robert, followed by Joe and Carmen. Then they had Jorge and Dolores, who both passed away at a very young age. Then they had Rachel and finally, Raymond.
They moved from Mexicali to Fresno in 1963. Jose worked as a welder tech and fabricator up until his retirement around 1985.
He has 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Jose was a hardworking man throughout his entire life. He did whatever he had to do to provide for his family. He sacrificed a lot for his family. He was not one to show his affections, but we all knew that we were loved. He did not have the opportunity to go to school, but he was an intelligent, smart, and innovative man. He liked to take things apart, just to see how they worked. He would also create his own contraptions to make things work the way he wanted them to. He liked going to the mountains. He enjoyed being outdoors. He liked working in his yard, tending to his plants and trees. As his mobility became more limited, he was happy with sitting in his garage and finding a place to sit in the sun. He really liked eating salads from Pollo Loco and hamburgers from Burger King and he would always ask you for a piece of candy after his meals.
He lived a long and full life. We were blessed to have him for such a long length of time. He will be greatly missed by all of us.
