John Louis Wright

John Louis Wright was born June 4, 1930 in Fresno, California and passed on November 12, 2018. John was a man of faith, honor, courage, love and devotion. He was resilient and never lost his ability to smile and make the best of what life gave him.

John proudly served as a Corporal, United States Army 2nd Infantry Division, during the Korean War. He was in the battle at Heartbreak Ridge, receiving a Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations and Korean Service Medals, two Bronze Stars, and ultimately a Purple Heart. A Fresno State Alumni, he worked for Cal Trans for 38years, retiring in 1993 as Head Supervisor Hydraulic Engineer. John married the love of his life, Nancy, in 1956 and was married for 62 years. They lovingly raised three children in the home they designed and built. Following retirement, John and Nancy spent several years traveling around the country in their 5th Wheel and his beloved Dodge Diesel, before settling into a new home in Clovis to enjoy time with their children and grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents, William Winfield and Louise Anaise Wright; sisters, Anaise Wright, and Dorothy Lynch; his brother, William Wright; and several nieces and nephews.

John is survived by his wife Nancy; children Cherie Wright-Swieso, Terri Wright and husband Brian Dolton, Timothy Wright and wife Sandra (favorite daughter-in-law), and forever-son-in-law Arnold Napoles; grandchildren, Cullen Swieso and spouse Sierra Nishizaki, Joseph Napoles and Sloan Swieso.

Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Monday, November 19, 2018, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 3:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Clovis, CA on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment with Military Honors at St. Peter's Cemetery, Fresno, CA.
