January 12, 2014after a valiant and courageous
fight from cancer at the age of 84.
She was known for her grace and humor and
was loved by many.She was an amazing cook
and was always willing to teach family
members the secrets to her amazing dishes.
If you met Jessieyou immediately liked her and
wanted her to be your Mom. She was a mother
who raised her childrento be smart, hard-working,
kind, and respectful. These traits were passed
to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jessie was the eldest child of Jovita
and Gregorio Avalos.She was preceded in
death by her parents, brother,
Daniel; and sister Eloise.
Jessie was matriarch to 62 1/2 family seeds
which includedseven children, Patricia, Susan
and David Chavez, Dorothy Rodella
and her husband Ron, Sally Valencia and
her husband Efrain, Primo A. Belmontez and his
wife Cynthia and Norma Mendoza;
22 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
Her first great-great-granddaughter is due in April.
Surviving siblings include, Ernestina,
Mary, Salvador, Martha, Greg, Rosie,
Hope, Gabriel, George, Veronica and
Maxine. She also leaves
behind her beloved dog Fi-Fi.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral
Home on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.
followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
