1938-2022
Born in Los Angeles, California, Jeanette Maroot, was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She and her husband, Phillip Maroot, enjoyed their life together and shared a love for traveling. She graduated from UC Berkeley where she made lifelong friendships at Sigma Kappa sorority. Because of her love of travel, she successfully owned a Hanford travel agency where she helped others take their dream vacations and helped professionals travel for business. Having traveled with Phil to over 50 countries, such as Bali and Tanzania, Jeanette captured the world through the lens of her camera as an avid photographer. Many of her photographs encapsulate her love of wildlife and nature, which prompted her to become actively involved at the Fresno Zoo serving as a docent and an advocate for expansion of the zoo and animal habitats. As a zoo docent she educated young minds and brought a love of learning and reading to the zoo attendees. As an avid reader, she initiated and participated in several book clubs and always had a fun fact or smart remark to add to the discussion. She instilled this passion for learning and zest for life in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and being available to support them by attending countless sporting and school events. Jeanette was an active member of the community as well. She was involved in a number of organizations, such as Fresno Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Kings Guild in Hanford. She loved hosting parties, entertaining friends and family, cooking and baking, and loved to have a glass of wine. We will always treasure the memories she helped create and will greatly miss our wife, mom, grandma, and GG.
A memorial service will be held at Fresno Westminster Presbyterian at 50 E. Santa Ana in Fresno, California on December 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.
