James Edward Hill was born in Fresno on October 6, 1936 and passed away on November 10, 2021. He grew up in the Fresno area and except for a brief time working in San Francisco as a young man, lived most of his life in Fresno. He worked for P.G.&E. and retired July 1, 1999. Retirement didn't slow him down as he was involved with the San Joaquin Power Employee's Credit Union for several years and worked at The Pelican's Treasures gift store.
He enjoyed art, his pets, driving his mother, family and friends on various trips and getting together with family and friends for celebrations, dinners, and a glass of wine. He had some signature dishes that we all enjoyed like his mushroom barley soup, chicken wings and shrimp cocktails. He liked to laugh and had the best belly laugh! "Uncle Jim" will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Gertrude Hill, his sister Judy Melella, his nephew Jerry Cox and his niece Janice Cox. He is survived by his nephew Patrick Cox and wife Jodi, great nephews Ryan, Adam and Eric Cox, several cousins and many long-time friends who were like family to him.
