On the afternoon of Monday, October 10, 2016, James Ihde lost his fight while surrounded by his loved ones at Fresno Community Regional Center Intensive Care Unit 4 North. He received wonderful care during his stay. Health complications began in July, but his incredibly strong will put up a tireless fight until the end.
James Floyd Ihde was born in Clovis, CA, on December 10, 1947. He was the third child, and only son of five, born to Floyd and Lois Ihde. He was raised on a farm in Easton, CA.
Most fondly remember James as "Buzz". Buzz was a nick name given to him by his late younger sister, because she couldn't quite say brother. That name stuck for life.
Early on he discovered his love for tinkering with things. You could always find him taking something apart to fix or figure out how it worked. No object went without fixing, to cars, appliances, etc. He was self employed.
In later years, he met the love of his life, Sherry Thomas of Fresno. She entered his life with her young daughter, Nichole, whom he helped raise. A few years later, together they brought their son, Brandon, into this world. He was a loving and generous father.
His heart was very generous. He would give you the shirt off of his back or the last penny he had. A lot of his time and energy was spent helping others in need and expecting nothing in return. His door was always open.
To those who knew him well, he was trustworthy, honest, and hard working. His beautiful blue eyes, generosity, and signature "Yeeepp" will be deeply missed.
James was preceded in death by his first born son at birth, Jason Allen Ihde; his sister, Teresa Ihde; and his love Sherry.
He is survived by his son Brandon; step-daughter, Nichole Thomas, and her daughter Alora; parents, Floyd and Lois Ihde; sisters, Linda Dean and husband Scott, Winnie Hughes and husband Keith, and Susan Martin and husband Tim; nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.
Visitation will be held at Stephens and Bean Funeral Chapel on Thursday, October 20, 2016, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Chapel Service will be held at Stephens and Bean Funeral Chapel on October 21, 2016, at 11:00 a.m.
