He is survived by Pat Andersen, his wife of 58 years; daughter, Susan Quintela and her husband Benny Jr.; son, Jimmy Andersen, and his wife Crystal; and daughter, Heidi Oikle and her husband Dennis. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Benny III and Candice Quintela, Colton and Mallory Andersen, Paul and Ruby Landavazo-Andersen, and Nikki Oliver; and great-granddaughter, Autumn Mae Andersen.
Jim was the owner and operator of J.B. Andersen & Son Trucking out of Easton. Ca. for over 50 years, before retiring in 2007. Though he enjoyed fishing and outdoor activities, he obtained his greatest enjoyment through his years running the trucking business and visiting with his family and friends.
Jim is best known for his great love of talking. He never knew a stranger, and would pretty much visit with anyone who would take the time to listen to his stories. He was also well known for his willingness to help others in need. Anytime Jim found someone in need of assistance with things such as a repair of their car, truck, or other pieces of equipment, Jim just jumped in and made sure it got fixed. He truly loved helping folks in need. Many of the Washington Union high school students from the Easton FFA, in the 1970's and 80's will remember Mr. Andersen for building a set of cattle racks to fit one of his sets of trailers, so he could haul all the Easton FFA livestock to fairs and shows all over the state of California. Jim and wife Pat would often chaperone the FFA students while they attended out of town livestock shows, and cook meals for the students while they were away.
His infectious laugh, bright smile, colorful vocabulary and love of family and friends will be remembered by all who knew him.
A Graveside Service will be held at Washington Colony Cemetery on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at 10:00 a.m.
Donations may be made in Jim's name to The Kidney Trust, 1111 Bayhill Drive, Suite 285, San Bruno, Ca. 94066
