I don't know what magic Jacob had but we were in the same cohort at Pepperdine University this past November in residency and we became fast friends. Jacob and I bonded over the story of his mom battling cancer. Jacob mentioned she passed away when he was young and my own story of living with Cancer made him feel for the first time that his mom was okay. We cried together - we laughed together. As everyone has said, he was kind, smart, and a great person. My heart is shattered in to a million pieces. I pray that he finds peace and is in the loving arms of God and his mother. Much comfort and love to his family. God bless you - Jacob!

Jacob was with me and a few others in a small group during our last residency at Pepperdine in November. We were also in a few other classes together last year. The young man I got to know, very briefly and therefore somewhat superficially, was magnetic. He drew me in with a bright beautiful toothy smile and kind eyes. He was smart, charming, and genuine. I am grateful I had the chance to meet him. Words cannot express my sadness for his loved ones loss. He will be greatly missed.

I regret that I also suffer the loss of a child and offer my support and love to the family. We were fortunate to have Jacob as part of the Pepperdine Law community. My condolences to the family. Even though I really only hung out with Jacob around the pool, he was someone that has made an impact to my life. His amazing smile is something I will always remember.  He was a teammate to remember. 

I’m so sorry to hear about Jacob, he was one of my greatest friends throughout high-school and i loved playing waterpolo and swim with him. You have my deepest condolences and I wish you and the family the best. 



Jacob was such a nice and genuine person. When we would cross paths he always greeted me with a smile. There were a few times Jacob and I would talk about music and DJs on instagram and we liked a lot of the same artists so it was always nice to talk about music with him. I know there are no words that can ease the pain but my heart and prayers go out to his family during this time. You have my deepest sympathy. 

Jacob was an amazing friend. His smile and laugh lit up any room he was in and he was the kindest soul. I will miss my friend dearly, heaven has gained another angel. I love you Jacob. My condolences to his family and his closest friends.

Condolences and prayers of comfort for Jacob's family and friends. 

Jacob will truly be missed and my condolences go out to his family and friends. Growing up, Jacob had been my best friend. His mom and my mom (Mary) worked together and became bestfriends. Our moms were pregnant with us around the same time. This being said, Jacob was my first and best friend. I will always cherish our memories we made together from running around pumpkin patches declaring we were the king and queen of the patch, to birthday celebrations at Chuck E Cheese/Shakys/Cal Skate, to play dates at eachother houses, etc. Jacob was a wonderful person and I truly hope he is at peace in heaven with his mom. John, Joshua, Summer, and family: my mom and I will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers. We love you all.

    It was not about how many years I knew Jacob. It was about how many hours Jacob and I spent together. This gentleman was a person with compassion for others. Jacob was an intelligent, loving, caring, and most certainly charismatic person.  I would tell him I never thought I would be friends with such a genius like him. This man no matter what always put the work in for everything he has accomplished. What’s funny is I swear every time  Jacob, Tessa, and I went out to lunch or dinner, I always thought we were going to be told to leave due to us being so damn loud singing the lyrics to an 80s song playing in the background. What I truly appreciate about me and Jacobs friendship is that we always had faith in each other to achieve anything we wanted in this lifetime and that we will always be there for one another to hurdle over any challenges that come our way. He was a big encouragement to many.  I will never forget my friend/brother. I’m going to miss you Jacob John Etchegoyen-Quintana. See you later.

Jacob and I experienced a lot of life together. Through him, I knew what freedom and happiness felt like. He made me laugh and challenged me to think outside of the box I grew up in. There was no better person I could have spent my early adulthood with. My heart is with his family and his loved ones.

Jacob was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Every time we came across each other he would always show love. He would always find something to compliment about you. I was lucky enough to come across him a few months ago while out and we spoke and laughed. My condolences to his entire family.

Jacob John Quintana Etchegoyen My best friend. To limit it down to just one memory with you is not possible because I have so many. Every birthday with ours being just 7 days apart has a memory with you. Every holiday I look at old memories & who was by my side was Jacob. Graduations the person I wanted there always & always showed up for me was Jacob. His infectious smile & the amount of love he had I was grateful to receive. Jacob was someone who could light up a room with his laugh & his voice. Jacob & I didn't meet til my freshmen year of high school, but after that we were inseparable. We did just about everything together, we talked just about everyday & even if we didn't he was never far from my mind. I was fortunate enough to spend so much of my life with Jacob by my side. He was someone who was always there for me through so much of it. He was my person, I find myself thinking of something funny & he's the first person I want to share it with. When I hear a good song I think Jacob would love this too. We had so much of the same music taste & taste in movies that was our shared love. We would watch movies together for hours & quote the lines to each other. We would get annoyed when other people didn't know our movie quotes & say what terrible taste they had for not knowing.I am grateful for meeting Jacob because he impacted my life forever. I love him so much & the love & memories I have with Jacob will be eternal. Though, he is not here with my physically he is never far from my mind or my heart. The biggest blessing in my life was being able to know such an amazing person. Til we meet again my friend I love you always & forever.
