Jack Leroy Walton was born in Sanger, California on October 15, 1917 the 2nd son of C.L. and Mary L Vance Walton. C.L. Walton was the principal of Caruthers University High School for many years. Jack graduated from CUHS in 1934 and from Fresno State University in 1940.
After graduation, he was in the Air Corps (78th School Squadron) at Moffett Field in Sunnyvale, California. He married Vivienne Elizabeth Phelan on July 28th, 1944 in Fresno, California and just celebrated their 67th anniversary. Jack sang tenor for many years in the First Baptist Church Choir where he was a member for over 50 years. He was also played violin in the original Fresno Philharmonic orchestra for many years.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary Ellen Smeltzer; brother, Tom Walton; sister-in-law, Mae Walton; and cousin, Ameida Scott. He is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Mattox and her husband, Roy of Sanger, California; and Mary Lee Otto and her husband, Ken of Claremont, California. He also leaves 2 grandchildren, Meghan Mattox of Van Nuys, California, and Matthew Otto of Los Angeles, California.

A Funeral Service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Fresno, 1400 E. Saginaw Way on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
