Jack Lawrence Cardwell

He attended schools in Kerman before graduating from the University of California, Davis, College of Agriculture. He applied for pilot training and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Jack spent two and a half years over seas as pilot, Operations Officer, and Commanding Officer of his squadron; rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Jack married his childhood sweetheart, Dorothy Taylor, resumed farming and began raising a family. Jack's marriage to Dorothy lasted 66 devoted years.

Jack is also survived by his son, Jack L. Cardwell Jr. and his wife Joyce; daughters, Joan Cardwell Engel and her husband Michael, Ruth Cardwell Rimmer and her husband Rod, and Judy Cardwell Zindars and her husband Ron; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; and niece, Barbara Cardwell Schaad and her husband Steve.

A Graveside Service will be held at Fresno Memorial Gardens on Thursday, August 4, 2011, at 10:00 a.m.
