Dear Irene,

     Words cannot describe the amount of compassion and love that you have towards everyone that was special enough to be a part of your life. The bonds that you created are truly amazing and nothing less than spectacular.  You have a beautiful soul that will forever be a part of us all and never forgotten. You always had a big o' smile on your face that just lit the room. Your little giggles made everyone giggle, which I will miss the most. I know you looking over our shoulders now, keeping us safe from the unknown.  The guardian angel that you have now become will always be in our prayers. Have a margarita with my parents and laugh about all of our shenanigans.  We will all see each other some day. Until then keep smiling and know how much of a blessing you are. Mom, I  praise Sweet Mother Jesus,  for you to be His Grace in selecting You to be my Mother !  I've been with you for 63 years and I look forward to my passing when we meet again! I find it so hard to write this message to you, so many emotions that are running through me right now....I feel if I write and send it, that means that it's true and you're no longer here with us and sometimes the pain is so unbearable for me to bear but I also know Jesus carries us through these times of grief and heartache. He is our rock and salvation. 

Just wanted you to know how much I love you and grateful for the sacrifices you made for me and the rest of your children. You kept your family together after dad died,...how daunting to be a widow with 7 children.....how to feed,house and clothe all of us. We were blessed  by a man who was willing to take a chance on you and become a home owner.....and you succeeded. Your  strength, courage and faith was displayed in your actions over the years. 
I remember when I started playing softball and you were there for all my games and practices.....some called me "momma's girl" but I feel it was you playing both mom and dad, making sure I was OK...and that we had a strong connection. 

I've always a hard time in letting go but in learning and having a relationship with our Father in heaven and his promises and plans he has for us, that is what comforts me now. 
So, this is not goodbye mom but I'll be seeing you later.

Mom...I was truly blessd by Gods perfect plan for you were the "Perfect Mom" to have raised us all! You not only taught us important values of life but you showed us those values by your own life. You gave us the most important gift for this life, you taught us about "God" for that my life has had meaning and purpose. I now feel the pain of losing You, My Momma! But I know in my heart you got new wings to soar above this life and you will always be with us until we too are called by the Lord. I Love You More than all the Stars above! Thank You Mom! As I write this with a heavy heart, I know this isn't goodbye but to see you later.

You have been a pillar in my life and no words can express my appreciation for what you have given me. You have taught me the importance of education, kindness, and family values. I would not be the person that I am today if it wasn't for you. Although you raised  your children, you found it in your heart to take me, your granddaughter, under your wing and raise me. I'm truly grateful and thank you for that.

We were and will always be two peas in a pod. 



If you may recall The old woman and the shoe who had many children and took care of her children (including grandchildren and great grandchildren).  Irene, my grandma or also known as G-Ma was that woman who lived in the shoe.

Every time I would visit my grandma, she would always offer me food no matter what.  Always making sure I was not going hungry; as little as she had to give, my grandma would always provide me something for Christmas which were always a pair of comfy socks and my birthday, a gift card if I ever needed something.  My grandma even provided gifts for my son. She was a giver, even though I told my grandma to save her money because my son and I were not her responsibility... guess what... my grandma still gave and kept giving. She truly made sure that we got what we needed whether it's a gift or a good lecture on life. I will always remember that tender side to my grandma and how strong as a woman she was and had to be for her family.

Proceeding in life without support on raising and guiding her children was not easy but she made it possible with the grace of God. And her guidance for me is to always go to Church and have that spiritual relationship and support from God because I will not get that support from anyone else.
And always support my child and be there for my child. Even though The woman and the shoe have finally rest, it's my turn now to carry on her tenderness and hopefully my grandchildren will see me as The woman and the shoe.

I am here wondering where you are, when your coming back... i never thought I would see you leaving without making sure what I was first doing or where am I going, or where I am coming from, I no longer get those questions anymore. I miss you

I remember Mrs. Alva’s contagious laugh and how she could get anybody laughing and forgetting their problems.  I do remember once during a Fresno Cory college softball game that this laugh was able to stop the game.  Mrs. Alva was in the stands w/Mrs Apodaca, telling stories and laughing, oblivious that there was a very serious softball game going on.  Well maybe not too serious.  Mrs Alva always had a calmness to her and was always ready for a laugh!  Miss you Mrs Alva.  Thanks for being part of my childhood!
