Helen, age 97, has left us to join her Heavenly family. She was born in Hamtramck, Michigan to Frank and Josephine (Malinowski) Semik. She was raised by her beloved Aunt Julia and Uncle Tony Rowinski.
In 1979, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of moving to California, living in the Los Angeles County area. As a single, independent woman, with a generous, joyful spirit and a feisty sense of humor, she easily made and kept many lasting friendships. She enjoyed photography, sketching, and traveling across country in her trusted Dodge van, Leaping Lena. Helen retired as a finance clerk with the United States Railroad.
With declining health, she moved to Madera County, and with the help of Saint Agnes Hospice, found her new home at Palms Care Center. We are forever grateful to all of her caregivers, Helen's extended family, who treated her with grace, dignity, and loving devotion, until her peaceful passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her aunt and uncle, her brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward (Eleanor) Semik, Frank (Bernice) Semik, and Charles (Essie) Kowalski and her nephews, Edward Semik and Charles Kowalski Jr.
Helen was loved by many and will be missed by her surviving nieces and nephews, among them, Sandra Kosarek and Kathleen Broggi who were especially dear to her.
