He was a graduate of Madera High School and Heald's College and a member of Peoples Church. Dean worked as a structural steel draftsman and retired from PDM Steel.
Dean was a World War II decorated veteran and plank owner on the U.S.S. Intrepid.
The family thanks Dr. Patrick Brauner and grandsons Daniel Van Noy and James Whitehead for their loving care.
Dean is survived by his loving wife, Norma Lee, of 65 years; three children, Dean Whitehead Jr. and his wife Patricia, Charlotte and her husband Jon Van Noy, Cathy and her husband David Cowin, twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held at Belmont Memorial Park, Fresno, Ca, on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.
