Georgia Tripelas Georgiadis, age 98, passed away on October 6, 2018, the youngest of five daughters of the late Theodore and Marigo Comas Tripelas, formerly of Methoni, Messenia, Peloponnese, Greece. Mrs. Georgiadis was born in Salida, Colorado and relocated to Midvale, Utah at a young age, where she was educated and subsequently employed by the Westinghouse Electric Supply Co. During World War II she was active in the USO where she met and eventually married Peter Georgiadis, a young soldier on his way to the Pacific Theatre. They had been married for 72 years when Peter passed away in June, 2018.
Mrs. Georgiadis loved to travel, and for many years took extensive annual trips with her husband. Her photo albums are filled with experiences from East Asia, Australasia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and South America. She also was an active member of the Greek Orthodox Church, serving the parishes of Salt Lake City, UT, Portland, OR and Fresno, CA. Her involvement included membership in the Athena Philoptochos Society and the Daughters of Penelope.
She is survived by her son, Lukas and his wife Valaree ; daughter, Theodora Guthrie; grandchildren, Zemery, Levi, Alexis, Margaux, Peter, Theodore; and great grandchildren, Zoie and Nora.
A Trisagion and Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Fresno, CA at 12:00 noon. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in Salt Lake City, Utah.
