Georgia was born in Santa Maria in 1929 and lived in Brawley as a child. She grew up in Malaga and finally settled in Fresno where she met her husband who later passed away. Later in life, she met her companion and spent over 30 years with him until he passed away. She got to see all of her kids get married and start their own families. She lived through some hard times but remained strong in spirit and mind. She raised eight kids by herself. She always knew what was best for her kids and told them, even if they didn't want to hear it. Georgia was a small woman but unafraid to tell you what she thought. Some people remember her as "Voya" but she will be remembered as a strong woman who was proud of her children and wanted only the best for them. She enjoyed lounging on the back patio on Fridays when the family would visit, listening to her favorite Spanish music and having an occasional cerveza.
She is preceded in death by her companion, Kenneth Espinosa; her first husband, Felix Diaz; and two children, Albert Diaz and Sarah Dominguez.
She is survived by her children. Tina Aguilar, Genevieve Tovar, Jo Ann Ponce, Debra Martinez, Felix Diaz, Sylvia De La Cruz, Michael Espinosa, and Ernest Espinosa; numerous grandkids, great grandkids and great-great grandkids.
Visitation will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 starting at 4:00 pm and followed by the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial at the Sacred Heart Church on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
