George was born on June 1st, 1930, to Juan and Concepcion (our Nanie) Marquez in Salinas California. George excelled in track and football at Salinas High School. After graduation, he served 4 years in the US Navy during the Koran War. George then enjoyed a great career in branch management with Bank of America and finished his career as a leasing broker with a local company until he was 85.
In 1953 he married Patricia Ross and raised three children: Susan, George, and Karen. Life revolved around his family including talking to all of us daily. He loved making his famous salsa and cooking for family. He loved playing Golf with family and friends. George was quietly a great artist. He was a gifted wood carver. He loved watching old western movies and seldom missed a SF Giants game.
George is preceded by his parents, daughter Michelle, son in law Augie and 4 brothers. George is survived by his wife Patricia, sister Josie Scattini , daughter Susan Hooper(Bruce), son George Marquez (Vicki), and daughter Karen Guerriero. He is also survived by six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Family, friends, neighbors, and business associates all loved him.
A recitation of the holy rosary and funeral mass for George will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church - Guadalupe Chapel, 5770 N. Maroa Ave., Fresno, California 93704. Following the recitation of the holy rosary and funeral mass will be a committal service at St. Peter's Cemetery, 264 N Blythe Ave., Fresno, California 93706.
